Should the Catholic motto be “Pray hard, play hard”?

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

First of all, to my pagan friends: I understand that most of the fun stuff I do as a Catholic comes from you guys, and my religion will never compete with one that has a fertility goddess

That being said: Look at Mardi Gras. The entire point of the holiday is: We’re going to be really prayerful and sober the next 40 days, so let’s get as much partying in as we can. How coll is that? After all, i am sure God wants us to have fun on this earth, don’t you? Well I sure had fun this last weekend (I’m from New Orleans)

In my 30′s and wondering if I should have a baby.?

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

I’ve been married for 8 years. I am 36 and my husband is 40. We started trying for kids 4 years ago. However, we have had some challenges along the way that have set us back. Here are a few:
1. fertility problems 2. death of my mom 3. moving in w/my dad for 3 years after my mom passed.
Now finally in the past year we have moved into our own place and are finally having our “couple” time back. Now we are starting to question if we should even continue the journey of trying to have a baby. We like our freedom, we feel like with so many setbacks we are catching up on us time. At this point we were going to start looking into fertility options but have decided we are not sure.

What do you suggest? I am so confused and could use some advice. I feel like deep deep deep down I may still want to be a mom, I just dont want to start so late and have so so many fears and insecurities about parenting.

Infertility testing? What kinds of tests should be done…?

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Today is day 28 of my cycle & I can feel cramps coming on which means I’ll get my period tonight or tomorrow morning. This will mark my 14th cycle TTC =( No one in my family has ever had fertility issues, so naturally I assumed I’d be able to get pregnant without any problems. My husband has a varicocele that he’s known about for years, but his doctor said it should not “majorly impact his fertility”. So in August 2009, four months after coming off of the pill, we started TTC and we’ve been trying ever since.

My husband had a semen analysis done in May and the results were:

Sperm count: 213 million
Sperm morphology: 90%
Sperm motility: 40% (LOW)
And I think 10% was already dead by the time we got to the lab.

So… I know those are bad numbers =( In May when I had my annual gyno exam, my doctor (who is also the fertility director for the doctor’s office) said if she were in my shoes, she’d give it 14-16 months of TTC before I undergo the expensive, invasive tests. I’ve checked into the HSG she suggested and it’s going to be $2,500!!!!!! My health insurance won’t cover a penny of it. And that’s just for that one test.

Can they check into other things before they check for blocked fallopian tubes? Or is that pretty much the standard order of things? What other kinds of tests might I need to have done? As it is, we’re going to have to wait until February 2010 when we get our tax return to even start testing me =(

We’ve been eating semi-organically (at least dairy & meat) and we used Preseed this cycle with no luck. I also drink Red Raspberry Leaf tea (when I remember) and I’m going to start BBT charting this month. Any other ideas?
OOOPS. I meant to say we’ve been trying since August 2008. It’s been 14 months so obviously there is a problem somewhere.

Should we be excited or concerned or both?

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

We had 2 children then 2 miscarriages before using a fertility Dr. for child #3 (and clomid) SO now 18 months after the birth of #3 we decided that since my wife is 40 and we had a hard time conceiving #3 that we just wouldn’t prevent #4. WELL, the test is positive! We didn’t think it would happen this soon. She has an OBGYN visit next week. With the two miscariages and hard time with #3 we are having a hard time being excited. Has anyone had problems and then later not have them?

Should I take Ultra Mega Womens Vitamin and the GNC’s fertility blend together or just prenatal before ttc?

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

I am really confused and I don’t want to take too much, right now I am taking the Ultra Mega Women’s vitamin and I was going to buy the Fertility Blend they sell for both of us but I don’t know if taking those two together would be too much and cost ALOT more money when I could just ask my doctor if I could take prenatal vitamins and just pay the copay? We are going to start trying to conceive soon so I want to make sure I am as healthy as possible. Which one do you think I should take? Help!

When should I take fertility drugs?

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

So I thought drugs against sterility. I gave him one month after a difficult year, etc., so I bought something from him. He said he could help men too. I checked everything on our question is this sitio.mi. . . How long after a period to take fertility drugs? immediately? for? because I read every word of the bottle (not saying much) and said: “Do not take more than 7 consecutive days. So I will take one week (7 consecutive days, then stops until next month if I do not miss another period.) And also the second part is that I take a multivitamin. line that says it’s wrong to take drugs against the sterility and .. Prenatal, but I’m against infertility drugs and multivitamins … Fertility drugs have totally different things in my multivitamin. So, if I can do both? I also bought two aromatherapy. one for insomnia, insomnia for me and another for my mind, body and spirit. What say you? That’s what I’m sure if all this together? maby u could find a point of view of some of this for me? Thank you. unless you already know ur knowledge or experience …. all purchases in a grocery store. (Multivitamins were Walmart, but stopped selling them, I have one yet, but the fertility pills and aromatherapy oil and natural pills in the store) … can you help me.?
